Your Life Events
St Mary’s is a church that welcomes and supports people at all stages of life. Together we explore faith and prayerfully work to put it into action. Whoever you are, wherever you come from, there is a place for you here.Weddings
St Mary’s is an ideal venue for a wedding, comfortably holding about 125 people. We are also responsible for the chapel at Cromlix House Hotel which seats 30 guests.
The first step is to contact our Rector, Nerys Brown. This would be followed by an initial meeting.
You don’t have to be members of the Scottish Episcopal Church to be married here but a commitment to the Christian faith by at least one of you would be expected. The priests at St Mary’s are licensed to marry couples of the same sex and are ready to have a conversation about marrying you if one or both of you have been married before.
Weddings in the Scottish Episcopal Church are not just done off the peg but are tailored to the couple who are getting married. For example, if the couple are parents, there may well be creative ways of involving the children on the big day. With guidance, you will be able to design your own service, making it as simple or elaborate, as traditional or as modern as you wish, choosing prayers, readings, vows and music which are right for you. The Scottish Episcopal Church’s marriage liturgy which contains a range of options is available here.
St Mary’s doesn’t charge a fee for a wedding but we would be grateful for a donation to help us maintain our beautiful church. Please contact our Treasurer for guidance.
It is possible to hire the Church Hall for a reception or in order to provide refreshments for your guests before or after the service.
Baptism
Anyone can be baptized (christened) at St Mary’s at any stage in their lives. The first step is to contact our Rector, Nerys Brown. This would be followed by an initial meeting.

Anyone can have their funeral at St Mary’s. The first step is to contact our Rector, Nerys Brown, directly or through an undertaker.

The Church Hall can be hired as a venue for a funeral tea or in order to provide refreshments for your guests before or after the service.
St Mary’s is one of only a handful of Scottish Episcopal churches which has a churchyard still in use for burials. There is also an area set aside behind the church for the interment of ashes after cremation. For more information about Burials and Interments of Ashes at St Mary’s please contact the Rector.
